Jon (J.W.) Lafferty is an associate in Dentons' Los Angeles office. He focuses his practice on government contract law and international trade regulations. J.W. handles federal government contracting issues, including contract formation, compliance, disputes, claims, terminations and allegations of fraud. He counsels clients on government contract compliance issues and also performs internal investigations. In the international trade realm, J.W. has experience handling matters involving the following international trade regulations: the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and trade embargoes imposed by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), as well as supply chain management.
J.W. received dual undergraduate degrees from the University of Colorado at Boulder, graduating summa cum laude and honors with distinction. While attending the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law, J.W. was the chief comments editor and webmaster of the Journal of Environmental Law and Policy, and the chair of the El Centro Legal Homelessness Prevention Clinic. He was awarded Top Brief Writer in the Fall 2013 Moot Court Competition and was a moot court program honors recipient throughout law school.
Prior to attending law school, J.W. gained professional experience working in various industries as a pilot, skydiver, skier, journalist, multimedia producer and aerial cableway construction project manager.
